Hingol National Park:

Hingol National Park covers about 1,650 km² and is the largest of National Parks of Pakistan and lies on the Makran coast in Balochistan and approximately 190 km from Karachi . The area was for the first time declared reserved in 1988. The park area covers parts of the three districts, namely; Lasbela,Gawader and Owaran of Balochistan province containing a variety of topographical features and vegetation, varying
from arid sub tropical forest in the north to arid mountain in the west. Large tracts of the NP are covered with drift sand and can be classified as coastal semi desert. The National Park includes the estuary of the Hingol River which supports a significant diversity of bird and fish species.

Currently, 20 staff members including 18 game watchers, two deputy rangers are responsible for the management of the Park under the guidance of the park Manager who reports to the Conservator and the Secretary Wildlife, Cell phone, Forest, Livestock, Environment and Tourism. Kirthar National Park

'Kirthar National Park, second biggest National Park of Pakistan, is located in Kirthar Mountains range. It is also the first National Park from Pakistan to be included in the 1975 United Nation's list of National Parksaround the world. Kirthar is an area of outstanding beauty and cultural heritage which provides important habitat for a variety of mammals, birds and reptiles. Approximately one third of the park lies in the north of Karachi district and two thirds in the south-west of Dadu District. Surjan, Sumbak, Eri and Hothiano Game Reserve lies just to the east of the park. There are two tourist centers in the Park managed by Sindh Wildlife Management Board, namely Khar and Karchat. The centers offer cottage, and dormitory accommodation andguides are available. There are some 671km of unmetalled roads within the park,most of which are negotiable only by four-wheel drive vehicle.

There are now over 5,000 wild goats, about 1,250 urials and less than 150chinkaras in the park, and a further 400 wild goats and 70 urials in the gamereserve besides 58 species of birds. The Sindh Ibex population was estimated at13,155. The reptiles includes Rock python, Sind cobra, Russell's viper,Saw-scaled viper, Sindh krait, Royal rat snake, Tortoises, Desert Monitor lizard, Yellow Monitor lizard, Sindh Crocodile and different species of lizard and chameleon.




Hazarganji-Chiltan National Park

Hazarganji Chiltan National Park is another beautiful national park of Pakistan. The area is mountainous with precipitous slopes divided by ravines. The Chiltan Hills and Hazar Ganji Range lie west and east respectively,of the north-south Chiltan divide. It can easily be reached from the provincial capital Quetta, and attracts many visitors. Facilities include a museum, picnic spots and accommodation in rest houses.

This park was primarily established to provide refuge to the endangered Chiltanwild goat or Markhor. At present the total population of the Chiltan wild goat is estimated to be about 800. The Suleiman markhor is also present in the northern part of the Chiltan Range and a few urial still survive on the western slopes between 1,500m and 2,100m. Carnivores include Stripped hyaena and Red fox. Different species of birds and reptiles are abundant there.





Ayubia National Park


Ayubia National Park is in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It is a small natural park located at 26 km from the Murree hill station.Ayubia was named after President Ayub Khan. It has been developed as a resort complex from a combination of four mini resorts of Khaira Gali, Changla Gali, Khanspurand Ghora Dhaka in Galyat. It provides superb scenery of huge subtropical pine forest covering the hills and providing shelter.

In addition to riding trails, hikingplaces, picnic spots and motels, there is a chairlift in the central place of Ghora Dhaka in Ayubia that takes the tourists to a nearby summit for a view of the forested hills.

Ayubia national park is approximately at 8500 m higher place with very rich pine jungle. An interesting thing is that in 1920 British people carried a water pipe line from the higher end of park to the lower. This water further goes to Murree hills. Due to this passage of water line people covered this line in the form of almost straight path. This is almost 4-5 km long track.This is very much known that due to presence of very healthy herb vapours in the atmosphere, this 100% pure oxygen habitat removes many diseases and make one’s stamina very much higher. The park harbors many species of birds like golden eagle, vulture, sparrow hawk, hill pigeon, etc., and animals such as the haunting Asiatic leopard, Asiatic black bear, hill fox and flying squirrel.

21 important herbs belonging to 19 Families are found in this park, which are used medicinally by the local inhabitants.





Deosai National Park:


Deosai National Park is located in Gilgit Baltistan of Pakistan. It is located on the Deosai Plains that are among the highest plateaus in the world with an average height of 4,114 meters above the sea level, covering an area of about 3,000 square kilometers. For just over half the year, between November and May, Deosai is snow-bound. In the summer months when the snow clears up, Deosai is accessible from Skardu in the north and the Astore Valleyin the west. Deosai is well known for its spring season when it is covered by a carpet of millions of flowers and a wide variety of butterflies.

There is a lake named Sheosar Lake in the Deosai Plains. Thelake is at a height of 4,142 m (13,589 feet). Its approximate lengthis reported to be 2.3 km (1.4 miles), width 1.8 km(1.2 miles) and average depth 40 m.

Deosai Plains make up one of the last frontiers of natural habitat for the Himalayan brown bear, a creature that once roamed the mountains freely. The park currently has in between 20-28 Brown bears. This park was established to protect these endangered bears. Recently, a research project has started by Himalayan Wildlife Foundation (HWF) and Gilgit Baltistan Forests, Parks, and Wildlife Department to secure the survival of the brown bear in the Deosai Plains and to monitor their population. The Deosai Plains are also home to the ibex, red fox,golden marmot, wolf, the Ladakh urial, the snow leopard, Himalayan Musk Deer, Pika, Migratory hamster, Ermine and a number of resident and migratory birds.

Birds in the park are - Golden eagle, Lammagier vulture,Griffon vulture, Laggar falcon, Peregrine falcon, Kestrel, Indian sparrow hawk and Snow cock.





Margalla Hills National Park:

 

Margalla Hills National Park is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas and is one ofthe easily accessible national parks in Pakistan. Established to offer safe habitat to the leopard, gray goral, barking deer and Gray goral, the park is a wonderful wildlife destination in Pakistan. The Margalla Hills National Park is home to a number of wild animals that include barking deer, wild boars, Asiaticleopard, chinkara, red fox, leopard and jackals. For the bird lovers, the parkis a wonderful place to tour. Margalla Hills National Park is home to a large species of birds that include laggard falcon, kestrel, Indian sparrow hawk, peregrine falcon, white cheeked bulbul, Egyptian vulture and griffon vulture.
